Austrian participation in international activities
European and International Standards are developed in technical committees of experts from economy, administration, science and consumer organisations who are nominated by their national standards institutes.
Technical Committees of CEN and ISO are led peripherally by member organisations such as DIN, AFNOR, and Austrian Standards Institute.
For example, Austrian Standards Institute holds the secretariat of
• ISO/TC 83/SC 4 "Skis and snowboards",
• ISO/TC 138/SC 6 "Reinforced plastics pipes and fittings for all applications",
• CEN/TC 373 "Service of real estate agents",
• CEN/TC 384 "Airport and aviation security services" and
• CEN/TC 385 "Services for sheltered housing for the elderly".
As and when required by the economy the national standards institutes have arranged mirror committees to the Technical Committees of CEN and ISO.
In the Austrian mirror committees, the Austrian point of view and interests concerning European and international projects are defined, and experts/delegates are sent to the meetings of the Technical Committees of CEN and ISO.
