An international standard introduces a classification scheme for golf courses.
Vienna (AS prm, 2010-01-29)
Silver, gold or platinum: Those are the quality levels to be used in the future for classifying golf courses around the world in line with an International standard that is in preparation.
Working Group 4 “Golf Services” of ISO/TC 228 is drawing up the minimum requirements and a classification system for golf courses. It is based on a typology depending on the elements offered, such as golf course, driving range, restaurant, changing room, etc.
Thereby, it is possible to compare prices for golf club memberships or golfing holidays. For the operators of golfing facilities, the standard is to improve comparability with competitors as well as transparency for investors, shareholders, members and golfers.
The quality level may also form part of marketing strategies.
Moreover, the standard defines requirements for golf academies and golf professionals.
