What is a Standard?
A standard is a qualified recommendation – not a law – which is formulated by consensus and according to internationally acknowledged procedures.
It is based on coordinated scientific, technological and practical outcomes and aims to bring greatest possible advantage for all.
An acknowledged standardisation organisation accepts the standard for general and recurring use and makes it publicly available.
Any physical or judicial person can initiate a standard. He or she can request the development of a new standard or the revision of an existing standard.
