How are Standards devised?
During negotiations between the experts of a committee about the content of a standard – e.g. what requirements a product or service must fulfil – it is important to convince others with objective arguments.
Common consent among the experts is the first priority, contradictions in regard to the fundamental content of the document must be avoided.
When developing a national ÖNORM, unanimity is required for it’s admittance as a draft, for European and International standards-projects a qualified majority is necessary.
Consensus is one of the principles of standardisation!
