The set of standards must be unitary and consistent, since standards must provide the user with definite orientation.

A European Standard must be adopted into the Austrian set of standards as ÖNORM EN. In the case of there already being a national ÖNORM about a specific topic, it must be recalled in favour of the European Standard. Thereby annulling trade barriers within Europe and ensuring a functioning Single European Market.
