Already at the beginning of the development or revision of an ÖNORM the project is announced. In order to avoid trade barriers, this is carried out on a national level as well as on a European and international level.

After the experts of a committee have reached consensus about the content of the standardsuggestion, this document is published as a draft for public enquiry.

Within a defined period – for ÖNORMEN at least six weeks – any person can comment on the content of the draft, making improvement suggestions.

The responsible committee discusses these statements by public before the document is published as a standard.
