Austrian know-how for Syria

Within the framework of the 3-year project “Technical Assistance to the Standards and Quality Management Programme” implemented in Syria, a Syrian delegation came to the Austrian Standards Institute in September 2010.

The topics discussed during the 3-days study visit included the development of standards at the national, European and international level, the legal framework of standardisation, participation in CEN and ISO, issues related to accreditation, the European quality infrastructure and market surveillance.

Austrian Standards Institute Consulting (ASI:C) co-operates in the project as a junior partner. The project aims at improving the Syrian quality infrastructure and, in particular, in harmonising Syria’s technical legislation with the EU.
